College student rejects dorm living and builds himself a unique 27-ft-long tiny home

Most students also have to think about rent on top of the exorbitant expense of paying for college in the US.

Nonetheless, a perceptive kid in Florida did exactly that for a year before realizing it wasn’t his thing.

Moving back home would be the only option most people would think of, but Bradley Langenberg had other plans. In order to avoid paying rent, he constructed his own one-of-a-kind microhome.

Following a YouTube video in which he showed off his little house, his design quickly gained attention.

With more counter space than most apartment kitchens, a study area, a bathroom, a loft bedroom, and 27 feet of living space, Bradley—an Australian native—built a one-bedroom home.

The stunning makeover set him around $15,000, so the 22-year-old had to return to his parents’ house to put some of that money aside.

He explained to Living Big in a Tiny House that at first, the focus was on finances. “I went and paid a year’s worth of rent and decided that wasn’t for me right out of high school.”

“My family was under the impression it was never going to happen,” he continued. They began to inquire further and realized this is something I’m actually going to do after I pulled a 27-foot flatbed trailer home.

In just over a year and a half, with the support of his friends and an eye for repurposing people’s unwanted items, he turned the small 230-square-foot house into something truly special.

He freely admits to having “the best parking spot in Jacksonville”—a picturesque location on a creek in the heart of the woods—in Jacksonville, Florida, where he attended school.
