Divorced Woman Decided To Live In Stained-Glass Greenhouse

Today, Barb Stigen is sharing pictures of the amazing greenhouse she and her husband built in Alaska. It all began when Barb’s skilled husband constructed a greenhouse out of 36 vintage stained-glass windows that she had won at an auction. The outcome is fantastic!

Potted annuals and hanging baskets accentuate the exquisite glass on the greenhouse’s facade.

The greenhouse is situated next to spotlessly clean raised vegetable beds.

Stained glass also covers the greenhouse’s long side! Not only is it a utilitarian piece of art, but it is also one. Polycarbonate, which doesn’t break like glass and lets in enough of light for the interior plants to flourish, appears to be the material used for the roof.

Can we also discuss this lovely veggie garden? From the baby squash plants in the foreground to the carrots and beets in the back to the peas growing up in front of the greenhouse, everything appears so healthy and ideal.

The greenhouse’s opposite side is also lovely, featuring blossoming annuals beneath a Betula sp. birch tree. Take note of the chimney in the greenhouse’s back, which indicates that heat is given inside during the winter months. Venting for warm, bright days would be just as vital, if not more so, in warmer climates.

I think the greenhouse looks even more stunning when it’s lit up at night!
