There’s a haunted town in America that’s been entirely abandoned and is illegal to visit

Stories of haunted towns fascinate people all around the United States, but none are more so than Dudleytown in Connecticut, which is closed to tourists because of its reputation for paranormal activity.

The original settlers of Dudleytown arrived in the 1740s and established their town in a valley known as Dark Entry Forest. According to legend, the Dudley family was cursed, which triggered a chain reaction of unfortunate events that culminated in the town’s abandonment in the 1800s.

Countless weird incidents, including as inexplicable deaths and sightings of strange creatures, contributed to the town’s reputation for being haunted. Dudleytown is still subject to stringent conservation efforts that forbid the public from visiting, even though skeptics like Dr. John F. Leich reject the supernatural assertions.

Even though you can’t get to Dudleytown, there are plenty more terrifying haunted towns in the United States to visit. Despite its vivacious culture, the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, is renowned for its ghost tours and dark secrets. Savannah, Georgia, also has haunted hotels and pubs that tourists can visit to learn more about the city’s eerie history.

Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon, both on the West Coast, have guided tours of historic districts and haunted houses. Without disturbing rural areas, ghost fans can immerse themselves in tales of romance, jealousy, and lunacy in these cities that embrace their haunting histories.
