Mom Left Baby Daughter Alone While She Went On 10-Day Vacation

After leaving her one-year-old daughter Jailyn alone for ten days while she traveled to Detroit and Puerto Rico, Ohioan Kristel Candelario acknowledged her responsibility in the heinous murder of her child. Michael C. O’Malley, the prosecutor, emphasized the selfishness of Candelario’s acts and called the case “truly unimaginable.” Candelario, 32, took a plea agreement to have the murder and assault charges dropped, but now he faces a life sentence without the possibility of release.

Candelario left her kids alone on June 6, 2023, and when she came back on June 16, Jailyn wasn’t responding. The youngster was found dead in a playpen with dirty bedding all around it by emergency personnel. Jailyn’s death was attributed to extreme dehydration and famine by the medical examiner.

Derek Smith and Patrick Milligan, Candelario’s attorneys, acknowledged her regrets and difficulties with her mental health. They stayed silent and awaited their March 18 sentencing. Candelario continues to be imprisoned on a $1 million bond, despite having no past convictions.

The heartbreaking tragedy prompts sorrow and prayers for the bereaved family and emphasizes the significance of adult supervision for children.
