Before and after: the new life of a little two-room apartment

The designer maximized the available layout and modest footage of the apartment while keeping costs low. The clients, a young freelance couple without children, opted for a small two-room apartment in Brezhnevka with plans to move to a larger space later.

Designer Anna Kutilina optimized the space through small redevelopment and strategic furniture arrangement, while affordable decoration and IKEA furnishings helped save money.

The apartment, located in a standard panel house, couldn’t undergo major redevelopment due to load-bearing interior walls. However, all unnecessary partitions and mezzanines were demolished. The narrow hallway was optimized with storage areas built into a small niche, including a banquette with storage for shoes and hooks for outerwear.

Shelves were discreetly hidden behind the side walls of the niches to maintain visual clarity.
