Tiny home in adorable mountain village is dream retirement spot

Sandy, a vibrant 77-year-old, has embraced the tiny living lifestyle with gusto. Two years ago, on her 75th birthday, she made the leap and purchased her cozy abode in Escalante Village, a picturesque tiny house community offering breathtaking views.

Measuring at approximately 8’x32’ and boasting around 275 square feet, Sandy’s tiny home provides just the right amount of space for her and her beloved tiny dog. Outside, a charming picnic table and a deck, lovingly sanded and restained by Sandy herself, offer inviting spots to enjoy the outdoors.

Step inside, and you’ll be greeted by a visually pleasing interior characterized by warm wooden countertops, touches of greenery, and clean, bright walls. Sandy’s keen design eye is evident throughout her home, where each area seamlessly complements the next.

Sandy isn’t afraid to prioritize her needs and tailor the space to her preferences. Opting for windows instead of shelving opens up the living area, while a cozy chair replaces the traditional tiny home couch, offering Sandy a spot she truly loves.

Storage solutions are cleverly integrated into every nook and cranny of the house. Kitchen cabinetry and a full-size fridge ensure ample food storage, while drawers beneath nearly every cabinet maximize space utilization. Even a tiny “garage” attached to the exterior provides additional storage options.

Given her age, Sandy prefers to keep everything on the first floor, leaving the upstairs loft empty for now. However, it serves as a potential storage space for the future if needed.

Thanks to her compact indoor space, Sandy spends less time cleaning and more time enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Biking, hiking, and socializing with her neighbors fill her days, all made possible by the low maintenance lifestyle of tiny living. With a heart full of contentment, Sandy looks forward to embracing tiny living for the rest of her days.
