Victorian Home with Indoor Pool from 1865: Just How Amazing It Is!

Transforming trailers, shipping containers, and garages into fully-functional tiny homes is a common practice. However, architect Will Winkelman set out to push the boundaries by converting a 1959 Chevrolet Viking bus into a remarkable living space.

Hired by the bus’ owners, Winkelman’s task was to turn the vintage Chevy Viking into a versatile unit serving as a camper, guest room, and transportation with seating all rolled into one.

According to Winkelman’s website, the redesigned bus is capable of safely accommodating 12 passengers and a driver on the road. Once parked, it seamlessly transforms into a guest quarters with sleeping arrangements for two, either as two single beds or a joined queen bed. Complete with plumbing facilities such as a toilet and sink, as well as power supply, the bus offers convenience akin to a stationary home.

Revamping the bus required a complete overhaul, including lifting off the entire body for restoration. Winkelman employed a mix of fabricated replacement parts and salvaged components sourced online to breathe new life into the 1959 vehicle.

Inside, every inch of the bus was reimagined to maximize functionality and comfort. Drawing inspiration from the boat-building industry, Winkelman collaborated with experts to design and construct the interior. The owners’ desire for a “funky, hippy, Moroccan vibe” was skillfully translated into the final design.

Storage was ingeniously integrated into the retro-upholstered bench seats, providing hidden compartments to stow away belongings discreetly. With attention to detail evident in every aspect, the transformed bus offers a unique and cozy living space tailored to the owners’ vision.
