Woman builds off-grid tiny home cabin of her dreams

Brooke Whipple’s passion for nature led her to pursue a lifestyle immersed in the great outdoors. Determined to make this dream a reality, she embarked on the journey of building a completely off-grid tiny home in Michigan’s upper peninsula.

Every aspect of Brooke’s future cabin required careful consideration, starting with its location. Choosing to place it near the river, she undertook the task of clearing the area for construction. As she worked independently, major decisions like this demanded meticulous planning.

Brooke devoted time to ensuring the cabin’s foundation was solid and durable for years to come. Her meticulous attention to detail in ensuring everything was square and level laid a strong groundwork for the subsequent steps.

Despite being nestled in the heart of the woods, Brooke didn’t compromise on the exterior aesthetics of the cabin. Even the A-frame design boasted windows installed by her to invite natural light into the cozy abode.

After many weeks of diligent work, Brooke finally completes the cabin and can relish staying inside it. From carpentry and wiring to woodworking and general construction, she handled every aspect of the project herself, resulting in an impressive final product.

Reflecting on her journey, Brooke acknowledges that building the cabin presented her with the greatest challenge yet, but also brought immense gratification. The culmination of her hard work is a sanctuary that she, her husband, and their dog can cherish for years to come, serving as a testament to Brooke’s determination and love for the outdoors.
