You Can Sleep In These Owl Cabins In France For Free, And Their Interior Is As Good As Exterior

An enchanting cabin fashioned to resemble three forest owls has opened its doors to campers in the picturesque Bordeaux region of Southwestern France, offering an unforgettable experience at no cost. This initiative aims to entice urban dwellers to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature. And truth be told, the prospect has us itching to pack our bags and embark on this adventure!

Crafted from plywood, the shelter boasts three levels, complete with circular white beds, and is connected by an adjoining boardwalk that offers stunning views of the nearby wetlands. Known as Les Guetteurs, which translates to “the watchers,” these timber owl structures were envisioned and brought to life by contemporary art producer Zébra3, commissioned by the artist-architect collective Bruit de Frigo as part of their Refuges périurbains (“peri-urban shelters”) campaign.

For those planning a visit to Bordeaux in the near future, booking a stay in Les Guetteurs – or any of the other distinctive camping accommodations in the area – is just a click away.

Let’s be honest, who wouldn’t jump at the chance to trade modern conveniences for a few days of rustic charm nestled within the cozy confines of a wooden trio of owls?
