My husband said my body smelled bad, but the real reason left me stunned.

Lilly confesses: “I became so obsessed with my smell that I showered three times a day, applied very strong deodorant every hour (I even set a reminder on my phone). I wore perfume and brushed my teeth five times a day, as soon as I ate or drank anything other than water.” George
’s comments ended up affecting Lilly’s mental health. Receiving hurtful criticism about body odor daily from a loved one can deeply affect a person. Lilly admitted to feeling extremely disturbed by George’s behavior.

She writes: “I felt like I was going crazy. I was sure I hadn’t smelled bad during our relationship. I didn’t think I smelled bad at the time either, but apparently, my husband did. I’ve always been one of those people who discreetly checks their underarm odor. I consulted a doctor, who confirmed there was no medical problem.”

“I got to the point where I was literally asking my family and friends to smell my armpits and tell me honestly if I smelled bad,” Lilly says. “Everyone told me I didn’t smell bad at all, and one family member even said I smelled too good, like in a cosmetics store.”

One day, Lilly discovered why her husband thought she smelled bad.
One day, Lilly unexpectedly discovered the truth behind her husband’s strange behavior. At that time, she was so paranoid that she avoided hugging or kissing George whenever he mentioned her smell.

One morning, Lilly went for a walk while George stayed home. She recounts: “I left telling George I’d be back in about three hours. I’d planned to walk to my sister for some fresh air, but suddenly I felt unwell. I decided to go home and rest instead of going for a walk, and I returned about 30 minutes after I’d set out. Obviously, George wasn’t waiting for me.”

Lilly continued: “Since I wasn’t feeling well, I went home quietly so as not to make any noise with my keys. I had a terrible headache; any noise was painful. George didn’t hear me come in: he was on a video call with his mother.”

Lilly explained that George and his mother were talking loudly, clearly in the middle of an argument. Annoyed by the noise, she was about to ask George to put on his headphones when she suddenly realized they were talking about her.
