My mother, like many women of her generation, had a diaper routine that would shock people today. It sounds like something from a comedy skit, but it was simply part of daily life. When I was a baby, cloth diapers were still widely used. They were soft, washable, and practical, but they came with a serious catch. Someone had to clean them by hand before they went into the wash. Years ago, parents had to be inventive. They had to make do with what they had. That level of resourcefulness deserves real appreciation. It took commitment, strength, and a willingness to handle the less pleasant parts of parenting with grace.
