When I discovered a flash drive tucked inside an ordinary sausage, I assumed it was a mistake — until I saw what was on it

A Normal Purchase That Turned Strange
Yesterday I bought a pack of ordinary sausages from the grocery store. Nothing unusual, just something quick that I could slice for sandwiches. When I got home, I opened the package, cut a few pieces, ate some, and stored the rest in the refrigerator. Everything felt completely normal and routine.

The Unexpected Discovery
This morning I decided to use the same sausage for breakfast. I placed it on the cutting board, picked up my knife, and started slicing. The first cut stopped halfway through. The blade met something firm, something that clearly did not belong inside a piece of meat. I figured it might have stiffened overnight or maybe I hit a bit of gristle. I tried again. The knife stopped a second time, even more abruptly.

Confused, I leaned closer. That was when I saw it. A tiny glimmer, something faint and metallic, was hiding in the center. The sight made my heart skip. Sausage should never shine.

Not Metal, Something Worse
My first thought was that it must be a small fragment from the production line, maybe metal or hard plastic. Annoying, but not impossible. I steadied myself, gently pulled at the object with my fingertips, and felt it slide free.

I froze. It was not factory debris at all. It was a flash drive. A real USB stick. It was slick with sausage fat and tiny flecks of meat clung to its edges. My stomach twisted. I had already eaten from that same package the night before. The idea that this object had been sitting inside the food made my skin crawl.

Curiosity Took Over
Fear did not stop curiosity for long. Against my better judgment, I wiped the flash drive clean, walked to my computer, and plugged it in. The window that appeared showed only one folder named OPEN ME. Nothing else.

Inside that folder was a single image. A man stared directly into the camera with a wide grin. He looked as if he were laughing at something only he understood.

I jerked my hand away from the mouse. A chill moved from my spine to my fingertips. Someone had put that flash drive inside a sealed sausage. Someone had taken that picture on purpose. None of it made sense. The whole situation felt too deliberate to be an accident.

A Chilling Choice
Maybe it was a prank created by someone with a twisted sense of humor. Maybe it was something far more disturbing. I cannot tell. The uncertainty is its own kind of fear.

Now I do not know what to do. Should I call the police, report it to the store, or simply throw everything away and try to forget the entire experience. Part of me wants answers. Another part wants to erase the memory altogether.

One thing is certain. I will never look at store bought sausage with the same trust again.
