The Window That Watched

Tom had been searching for a new home for months before finding it—a beautiful, blue house on a quiet street, spacious yet cozy. It was perfect. Almost too perfect.

“You sure you want this one?” the realtor had asked, hesitating when Tom eagerly signed the paperwork.

“Why wouldn’t I?” he replied.

She forced a smile but said nothing.

Only later would he understand why.

The Window That Shouldn’t Be

It wasn’t until his first week in the house that Tom noticed something strange.

A single, tilted window near the roof. It was placed awkwardly, at an angle that made no sense.

More unsettling?

There was no room behind it.

On the inside of the house, there was nothing—just a solid wall where the window should be.

Tom assumed it was decorative, a design flaw, or maybe a mistake. He laughed it off.

Until it started moving.

Night One: The Shadow

On his first night, Tom sat on his porch, admiring his new home. That’s when he saw it.

A shadow.

Something—or someone—moved behind the tilted window.

His stomach tightened.

He grabbed a flashlight, climbed the stairs inside, and pressed his ear to the wall where the window should have been.

Silence.

No room. No hidden space. Just a solid wall.

Maybe he imagined it.

Or maybe he didn’t.

Night Three: The Whispering

By the third night, Tom couldn’t ignore it anymore.

He woke to a soft tapping sound.

From the window.

Except there was no wind. No tree branches.

Just… knocking.

When he looked outside, his breath hitched.

The window was open.

And yet, the wall inside was still solid.

No way to reach the window. No way to open it from the inside.

So who—or what—had opened it?

Night Five: The Truth

Determined to solve the mystery, Tom climbed onto the roof.

His hands shook as he reached the window, bracing himself for what he might find.

He looked inside.

And saw a room.

A room that didn’t exist.

Dust-covered furniture. A rocking chair moving slightly. And in the far corner…

A figure.

It turned.

And in the reflection of the window, Tom saw himself.

Smiling.

From inside the room.
