The House That Wasn’t Empty
Ben had always wanted to live somewhere quiet.
So when he found the two blue cottages for sale—one for him, and one unoccupied—he thought it was a perfect deal.
“No one’s lived in the second house for years,” the realtor said. “Just ignore it.”
That struck Ben as odd, but he didn’t question it. The house was perfect, the street peaceful.
For a few days, everything seemed normal.
Until he noticed the lights.
Night One: The Porch Light
Ben was walking home late when he saw it—
The porch light of the empty house was on.
He frowned. Had someone moved in? No one had mentioned new neighbors.
As he got closer, the light clicked off.
The curtains in the window shifted.
But when he stepped onto the porch, the house was locked.
And the inside? Dark. Silent.
Empty.
Night Three: The Shadows in the Window
By the third night, Ben couldn’t ignore it anymore.
He set up a camera facing the empty house.
At exactly 3:12 AM, the porch light flickered on.
At 3:14 AM, the front door creaked open slightly—then shut itself.
And at 3:17 AM, a figure appeared in the upstairs window.
Just standing there.
Watching.
But when he checked the house the next morning…
It was locked. And empty.
The Newspaper in the Backyard
Determined to find answers, Ben started digging through old records.
That’s when he found it.
An old newspaper buried in the backyard, damp and yellowed with age.
The headline made his blood run cold.
“MISSING PERSONS CASE—HOUSE #6”
According to the article, multiple people had lived in the second house.
But every single one vanished.
No bodies. No signs of struggle.
They simply disappeared.
And the last entry in the article?
“House #6 is empty again. But not for long.”
Ben looked up at the window.
The curtains moved.
And this time, the door of House #6 was open.
Waiting.
