The Castle of the Forgotten

Daniel always wanted to live somewhere no one could reach him.

When he found the steel container castle built on an old stone foundation, it felt perfect. Modern, industrial, and completely isolated.

The previous owner had left in a hurry, refusing to answer any of Daniel’s questions.

“You’ll figure it out,” the man muttered before leaving.

Daniel shrugged it off. The place was his now.

Then came the knocking.

The First Night: The Footsteps

That night, Daniel sat on the upper balcony, admiring the view.

The forest stretched for miles. No neighbors. No roads. No distractions.

But then—

Thud.

A slow, dragging footstep from below.

Daniel froze.

The only thing beneath him was the old stone foundation.

The Second Night: The Door Opened Itself

He convinced himself it was just the house settling.

But the next night, something changed.

Daniel went outside to check the lower level.

That’s when he saw it.

The small metal door built into the stone wall—

A door he had never been able to unlock.

It was wide open.

A cold breeze rushed out.

And from deep inside the dark passage…

He swore he heard breathing.

The Third Night: The Knock

By the third night, Daniel couldn’t shake the feeling that he wasn’t alone.

He locked every door. Shut every window.

But at exactly 3:00 AM

Knock. Knock. Knock.

From inside the locked basement door.

Daniel held his breath.

Then, a whisper.

Soft. Amused.

“You’re not the first king of this castle.”

The next morning, Daniel packed his bags.

The house is still standing.

Steel. Unshakable. Modern.

But the stone foundation?

That’s been there for centuries.

And whatever is beneath it—

Hasn’t left.
