Mom Breastfeeds 5-Year-Old Daughter Because She Thinks Her Milk Is Medicine

The 29-year-old mother Emma Shardlow Hudson breastfeeds her 2-year-old son Ollie and 5-year-old daughter Alex. She claims that by breastfeeding Alex every day before and after school, she has helped keep her kids healthy.

Alex typically breastfeeds her child once in the morning and once at night, and Emma thinks that her children’s general health benefits from the antibodies in her milk. Extended breastfeeding is considered unorthodox by some, but Emma views it as a loving and beneficial decision for her children’s health. She sees nursing as a noble act and thinks her children’s low incidence of illness is partly due to it.
